A 5-star stay in the heart of Mexico City's Historic Centre, steps from the Zócalo and crowned by a Tiffany glass ceiling.
About
Gran Hotel Ciudad De Mexico Zocalo View occupies a prime spot on Avenida 16 De Septiembre, right on the edge of the massive Zócalo plaza. The hotel’s early-1900s character is intact, from the grand hall’s glass ceiling to the old elevator that guests praise as much as the modern ones. It’s a base that puts you in the middle of the action, yet the building itself feels like a destination.
Rooms range from Economy King to Master Suites with Zócalo views, all equipped with air conditioning, coffee machines, and heating. The rooftop restaurant is a recurring highlight for its panorama of the square, and the service is consistently rated among the hotel’s strongest points. With a 9.0 guest rating from 1,744 reviews, this is a property that delivers on its historic promise.

9Verified guest“Nothing was too much trouble – we really enjoyed our time here. Great staff and a stunning location in the historic centre; everything was wonderful. This was our second stay, and they gave us a deluxe queen room overlooking the Zócalo. Breakfast was outstanding, with fresh produce, homemade waffles, and amazing views.”
9Verified guest“We ate at a top-notch restaurant with a great view. There were coffee and tea machines and fridges available on arrival.”
9Verified guest“A fabulous, traditional hotel in a great location. We chose it for our last night in Mexico after a three-week beach holiday and were not disappointed. It’s a throw-back to the 1900s both in style and service.”
9Verified guest“Everything! We don’t care about gyms or spas – we love city centres with history and art rather than being surrounded only by wealthy people.”
9Verified guest“Architecturally a real jewel – the incredible glass roof above the grand hall and the well-working ancient elevator (plus two new ones). Excellent location right on one corner of the Zócalo with absolutely stunning views at any time of day, especially evening, night, or early morning (try to get a room on the 3rd to 1st floor with direct square views). The rooftop restaurant has a splendid location, spectacular views, and more than reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly and always helpful. Good breakfast with huge quantities at a very good price. Scores over 9 up to even 10 from others are understandable, though somewhat euphoric given the real downsides.”
9Verified guest“Excellent architecture and decor throughout the hotel.”
